Berenberg is looking to hire interns into our rapidly growing London office.
The internship will last for a duration of 10 weeks during which you may be placed within the Research team. You will be given comprehensive training and will be allocated a ‘mentor’ who you can discuss any queries or concerns with. Interns will be paired up with a senior team member and will assist them in analysis of the sector, producing research notes and presentations. You will also be collating relevant market macro and micro news-flow on a timely basis.
The programme will be demanding, but rewarding and fun and will provide an excellent opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of the European Equities division and an understanding of how the different functions interact. Stand-out interns may be fast-tracked for following years International Graduate Programme Assessment Centre.
The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, driven and presentable, with outstanding interpersonal skills. You will be able to work under pressure while maintaining excellent levels of accuracy, and will have both a commercial and entrepreneurial instinct. Strong organisational skills are key. You will be in your penultimate year of studying for a degree in any discipline and will be expecting a 2.1 or above from a top university. Fluent English is imperative – European languages would be an advantage, but are not essential. Candidates should be eligible to work in the UK on a full-time basis.

I joined Berenberg after graduating from Oxford in 2016. My first experience of the firm was during my internship the previous summer. I remember being impressed by the bank’s culture, the quality of its people and the flexibility of its program. A holistic perspective on the financial sector
The Berenberg Graduate Programme, with its rotations in various business areas, is certainly a very good opportunity to find out in which part of the financial industry you really want to work later. However, this is only one way to look at the programme, in my opinion. My postgraduate studies in finance and the completion of the three CFA exams during my time at university have strengthened my will to become a portfolio or fund manager later in my career. During an internship at Berenberg’s quantitative equity fund management team, I got to know the firm’s culture. Hence, before I joined the graduate programme in October 2015, I already knew Berenberg and in which part of the industry I would like to end up after the programme. Nonetheless, by rotating within different divisions, I still wanted to get to know the sell-side world as well as the buy-side. For me, getting to know the functioning of the sell-side as well as the interactions of different divisions was very important and I am confident that this is an experience I will benefit from in my future career. Finally, rotations in London and Frankfurt offered me the unique opportunity to build a network of relationships.
