24.05.2019 — Berenberg has the best team and the best fund manager for German equities

Hamburg. Fund rating agency Citywire has selected Berenberg’s Asset Management as the best address for German equities for the second time in a row. Furthermore, Henning Gebhardt, Head of Wealth and Asset Management and fund manager for Berenberg Aktien-Strategie Deutschland, won the distinction of best fund manager for German equities. In addition to the fund performance, factors such as the experience of the individual managers and of the team as a whole were taken into consideration.

Head of Wealth and Asset Management Henning Gebhardt says: “I am delighted that we were able to defend our title as the best institution for fund management and that I also received an award. It shows that we are on the right path.”
The Bank’s six German and European equity funds have all been amongst the forerunners of their respective peer group. Berenberg’s Germany Team is currently managing two specific Germany strategies. Berenberg Aktien-Strategie Deutschland is managed by Henning Gebhardt. The fund has experienced significant growth since it was taken over by Henning Gebhardt in June 2017, making it one of the strongest in its class. His co-fund managers are Matthias Born and Andreas Strobl. Matthias Born is also the Chief Investment Strategist for equities and is responsible for Berenberg’s Europe equity strategies.

Strobl, who moved from Allianz Global Investors to Berenberg in 2016, is also the lead fund manager for Berenberg-1590-Aktien Mittelstand. That fund is co-managed by Henning Gebhardt and Sebastian Leigh. Berenberg-1590-Aktien Mittelstand has risen considerably since it was taken over by Andreas Strobl in January 2017, and is also one of the best funds in its segment. Citywire presented the awards in Frankfurt on 23 May.
